LIBRARY & INFORMATION CENTRE,

Preamble
The Regional Campus Library play a vital role in strengthening academic, research and extension mission of the University, facilitate as source base for creation and dissemination of knowledge. The range of services offered by the library is very useful for the patrons, besides this holding an excellent print collection of books, journals, theses, reports, pamphlets, Library also provides an access to e-books, e-journals and databases in Horticulture, Agriculture and Allied sciences. Genesis
The library started on 25thJuly 1958 along with Veterinary College, Bangalore and has seen the stride of development from traditional library to the concept of modern library. The College was initially affiliated to Mysore University. In 1965, the Institution became the constituent college of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore with trimester system of education and now part of the Karnataka Veterinary Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) since 2005. The Dairy Science College, Bangalore is located in Hebbal about 7 KM from the city on NH 4. It was established in the year 1980 with an objective of catering the need of manpower to Dairy and Food Processing Industries in the country.
Mission
The Regional Campus Library is to provide access to and delivery of information resources to education community. The Library develops, organizes, and preserves collections for optimal use and provides links to remote information sources. The Library provides services, including instruction for information literacy and information management, to enable its users to fulfill their academic and intellectual needs. The Library provides resources and services to outside users to the extent possible.

BOYS HOSTEL (KAMADHENU)

The college has separate hostel for boys. The foundation stone for Veterinary College Hostel was laid by Shree K.F.Patil, Minister of Food, Forest and Transport, Mysore on 24th March 1960.

Facilities Available :
The hostel has two blocks (Block 1 and Block 2) consisting of 120 rooms for the boarders, 3 well furnished guest rooms to accommodate 50 students, reading room, computer room, TV room at both the blocks. The Hostel rooms are comfortably-furnished and make a good home away from home.
The Hostel has two separate messes one for Vegetarian and other for non-vegetarian students and the same is run by the students under divident system. The hostel has got a separate bore well, over head tank, and underground storage tank for providing 24 hour water supply to the boarders. It has also got the solar water heating facility for providing hot water to the boarders with 24 panel capacity solar systems of 8 storage tanks with 3000 capacity each. The hostel is provided with 20 Sintex water storage tanks of 5000 L capacity each. A 30 KVA generator is installed in the hostel to provide uninterrupted power supply to the boarders. To maintain physical fitness the hostel has an exclusive Gymnasium facility established for the boarders along with a Table Tennis hall.
The entire hostel is under CCTV surveillance round the clock. Internet and computer and computer facility are provided to the students from evening 5.00 PM to night 11.00 PM. Printing, Xerox and scanning facilities are also created and nominal charge.  Unlimited BBNL wi-fi facility is being provided to the students. The hostel management committee and the Hostel Supervisory Committee jointly put effort for the maintenance of the hostel including the discipline and hygiene. The engineering section of the College is made responsible for the maintenance of the hostel especially civil works. Continuous effort is being put to improve the life of the boarders in the hostel by providing the congenial atmosphere to them.

PG Hostel
A new hostel for Post graduate students was constructed under SCSP/TSP grants and inaugurated during 2019 with 12 rooms to accommodate 24 students. The hostel has well furnished rooms with unlimited access to Wi-fi connectivity and a TV rooms. The students of the hostel utilize the mess facility of the Kamadhenu Boys hostel. UPS facility is available for uninterrupted power supply to the boarders.

International Students Hostel:
The International Students hostel was established to accommodate Post graduate students from other countries as well as under graduate students who get admitted through NRI quota (Foreign Nationals/ NRI/NRI sponsored). A total of 16 well furnished rooms with refrigerator, cooking area are available to the International students. Washing machine, RO water for drinking and unlimited W-fi facilities are provided to the students.

KALPAVRUKSHA GIRLS HOSTEL

Brief Note about the Hostel:
Kalpavruksha Girls hostel, located at Veterinary College Campus, Bangalore, provides accommodation facility to the girl students of Veterinary College and Dairy Science College, Hebbal. Also, some of the alumni of either Veterinary College or University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore, are staying in this hostel as working guests, depending on the availability of rooms. The hostel has all facilities to aid comfortable stay and good atmosphere for the students. Totally there are 128 rooms, designated exclusively for students, accommodating two per room. Rules and regulations of the hostel are strictly followed to inculcate discipline among the boarders.

HUMAN DISPENSARY

Brief Note

Department of Human Dispensary is functioning since 05/10/2006. It is located right next to Central Library and is opened during  daytime from 8:30- 4 PM. It is more like a day care centre wherin the entire staff is involved in treating the patients who are mostly the students and employees of veterinary college, Dairy science college, IAH& VB and Fisheries institute.

Services Offered

  • Clinical Diagnosis and treatment of day to day routine cases.
  • Treatment of Minor surgical cases
  • Treatment of Medical Emergencies
  • Attending emergencies at Field events like sports and cultural gatherings.
  • Attending emergencies to students staying in campus hostels
  • Anti Rabies Vaccination of Veterinarians, Interns & Final year BVSc students, Animal handlers, Laboratory personnel on regular basis

  2. Ward Room for treating Medical Emergencies
  3. Pharmacy for dispensing medicines
  4. Laboratory- Currently non functional

CANTEEN
The regional campus has well furnished canteen facility with 2000 sq ft area.  Canteen started functioning when the college was started.  The canteen is run on the basis of tender as per university norms under the control of campus head.

Facilities Available:
The canteen has separate well furnished kitchen separately for veg and non veg.  There is sitting facility separately for students and staff.
