VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY

Department of Physiology and Biochemistry is engaged in teaching basic courses in Animal Physiology and Biochemistry for B.V.Sc & A H students. The Department also offers a Post-Graduate Degree program in the subject of Veterinary Biochemistry. The  Department has well-equipped laboratories for conducting Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies. The Undergraduate Physiology and Biochemistry laboratories accommodate forty students at a time. There are two PG research laboratories and are well equipped to carry out research. The Department has sufficient state of the art facility for conducting all undergraduate practicals in Physiology and Biochemistry courses as prescribed by MSVE 2016.The Department is supported with major instruments like centrifuges, spectrophotometer (UV/Vis), Thermocycler, Electrophoresis units, Gel documentation System, blood gas analyzer, Trans-illuminator etc., along with various basic instruments required in the Biochemistry laboratory. Major activities of the Department are teaching undergraduate and post graduate courses with regular practicals and staff research in the area of Clinical Biochemistry/Physiology and Molecular Biology. The Department also provides diagnostic laboratory services to farmers and College Clinical Complex. Routine hematology and biochemistry analysis and specialized molecular biology tests like PCR  are carried out daily.   The Department focuses on skill development in physiological, biochemical, and molecular biological methodologies.
