Following the spirit of the motto of our university – “Farmer Friendly & Rural Oriented”, our Directorate of Extension is striving hard to improve the socio-economic conditions of the farming community through its multi pronged extension activities. In order to achieve this, the university is organizing a series of training programmes, demonstrations, farmer-scientist interaction sessions, field Days, Farmer Field Schools, Skill Development Programmes, Model Training Courses, Pashu melas, Mathsya Melas etc, through its constituent colleges and research & Information Centers spread across the state.
Besides, the Directorate brings out publications such as Annual Reports, News Letters, Colanders, Leaflets, Success Stories, Package of Practices, Animal Husbandry & Fisheries Dictionaries, Farm Literature etc., both in regional language and English. The Directorate has four Extension Education Centers at Bengaluru, Bidar, Shivamogga, Hassan; two Animal Husbandry Polytechnics at Shiggaon, Haveri district and Konehally, Tumkur district and one Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Mangaluru Dakshina Kannada district.
