Institute of Wildlife Veterinary Research

Institute of Wildlife Veterinary Research (IWVR) was established by Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar during 2007.

The Institution is located at Doddaluvara village, Somwarpettaluk, Kodagu district, about 4 km from Hebbale on Kushalnagar- Hassan route. The institute is spread across 89.64 acres.

Objectives of IWVR

  1. To impart post-graduate education to BVSc. & AH graduates leading to Master’s and PhD degree in wildlife.
  2. To undertake research in the area of wildlife.
  3. To impart training to the needy professionals and other personnel involved in wildlife.
  4. To educate public on conservation and other aspects of wildlife.

Proposed Units at IWVR
Following four units have been proposed to achieve the objectives of IWVR

  1. Wildlife Management
  2. Wildlife Pathobiology
  3. Wildlife Health
  4. Wildlife Extension


M.V.Sc. (Wildlife) programme is offered for Veterinary Graduates presently at Veterinary College, Bengaluru on behalf of IWVR.
