Karnataka State has got vast area of forest having rich in wild animals. It is important to understand various aspects of Wildlife Management, Biology, Behaviour, Nutrition, Diseases and Healthcare aspects. It is equally important to undertake research in various aspects of Wildlife on the above lines. No such organized facility is available in our country. Hence, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU), Bidar has started Wildlife Veterinary Research Institute recently with the financial support from Government of Karnataka |
| The Institution is being established at Doddaluvara village, Somwarpet taluk, Kodagu district, which is located about 4 km from Hebbale on Somwarpet Road (15 km from Kushalnagar). The Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu district has allotted 72.44 acres of land for the Institution. 15.52 acres of additional land is being sanctioned by the Deputy Commissioner. The site is surrounded by the hillocks creating natural forest environment. |
