FISHERIES RESEARCH AND INFORMATION CENTRE (INLAND), HESARAGHATTA CssTemplatesWeb.com

The newly formed KVAFSU, Bidar initiated Inland Fisheries Research at FRIC, Hesaraghatta, Bangalore (Formerly with UAS, Bangalore). The center was established in the year 1965 and transferred to KVAFSU in April 2005 with a mandate.

Mandate:
  • Demonstrate composite fish culture and fresh water prawn culture to farmers
  • Demonstrate Improved technologies for breeding and rearing fish/prawn species suitable for Inland aquaculture
  • Demonstrate revenue generation through ornamental fish culture
  • Carryout research on genetics, breeding, nutrition, health, rearing practices and marketing of inland fish/prawn species.
  • Provide the service of soil and water testing, disease diagnosis of fish farms.
    Funding support availed for Research and Infrastructure development:
    The center has succeeded in attracting national and international funding research activities and could get collaborative projects to carry out research on fish breeding and genetics, aqua feeds and technology development on fish and fresh water prawn farming.
    International Projects: IDRC - Canada, DFID-UK, EC projects, ICLARM. National Projects: ICAR, DBT, JSYS, etc.
