FISHERIES RESEARCH AND INFORMATION CENTER (INLAND)
The Fisheries Research and Information Centre (Inland) was established in 2002 at adjacent to the Hebbal lake with a mandate of research on the following aspects.
Mandate:
Demonstrate composite fish culture and fresh water prawn culture to farmers
Demonstrate Improved technologies for breeding and rearing fish/prawn species suitable for Inland aquaculture
Demonstrate revenue generation through ornamental fish culture
Carryout research on genetics, breeding, nutrition, health, rearing practices and marketing of inland fish/prawn species.
Provide the service of soil and water testing, disease diagnosis of fish
Pond Facilities:Farm facilities have been created in about 8 ha. area. The 7.61 ha land was utilized for construction of earthen ponds (63 nos) and cement tanks (16) of different sizes with major emphasis on technology validation, refinement and demonstration, technology transfer (conducting trails, demonstration, training programmes, seminars, workshops, awareness programme etc) and for promotion of commercial activities which includes production of quality fish fingerlings, different varieties of ornamental fishes and plants.
